The Father of Radio
Nikola Tesla, (July 10, 1856 – January 7, 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, mechanical engineer and electrical engineer. In addition to ground breaking work in the fields of electromagnetism and electricity, the multi-talented Tesla pioneered wireless communications over radio waves.
Tesla was the first to build a radio transmitter, first to demonstrate radio remote control, and pioneered work that resulted in trans-Atlantic radio communications. Tesla obtained over 275 patents over his lifetime, spoke eight languages and was an early vice president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
