BT700 Series Bluetooth Class 1 Module
Laird Technologies announces the release of the new Class 1 Bluetooth 700 Series (BT7x0) modules. Every 700 Series module is designed to add robust, long-range Bluetooth data connectivity to any device. Mass production quantities of modules and the associated development kits, are available now from all Laird global distributors.
Based on the market-leading Cambridge Silicon® (CSR) BC04 chipset, the modules provide exceptionally low power consumption with outstanding Class 1 range via 18 dBm of transmit power. The BT700 series supports two separate firmware images across two hardware platforms, with the only difference in the hardware platforms being whether the module has an integrated antenna or a u.FL connector for an external antenna.
The BT730 range of modules support a BTv2.0 firmware load, field proven and tested in Laird's BTM402/404 and BISM II module range. The BT740 range of modules supports a BTv2.1 firmware load and again is a field proven on a prior range of Laird modules, BTM44x series. For full details on the differences between these firmware loads, please visit the BT700 Series Overview Page.
With a compact footprint, the modules deliver maximum range with a minimum size. The BT700 Series of hardware also supports an integrated antenna option and a u.FL connector for use with a variety of pre-qualified external antenna options. Another integration advantage is the inclusion of a complete Bluetooth protocol stack with support for an intuitive AT command style interface or a packet based Multi-Point programming interface to enable multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections.
A broad range of Bluetooth profiles including Serial Port Profile (SPP) and other vital features make BT7x0 modules a good solution for any device that needs long-range Bluetooth connectivity. Application areas include medical devices, ePOS terminals, automotive diagnostic equipment, barcode scanners, and industrial cable replacement.
The integrated AT command processor interfaces to the host system over a serial port using an extensive range of AT commands. The AT command set abstracts the Bluetooth protocol from the host application, saving many months of programming and integration time. It provides extremely short integration times for data-0riented Bluetooth applications.
The BT700 Series modules are all fully qualified as Bluetooth End products, enabling designers to integrate the modules in devices without the need for further Bluetooth Qualification. In addition, each module carries FCC Modular, IC, and complete CE certification to further reduce the regulatory approval process for OEM integrators.
A low-cost developer's kit makes it easy for an OEM to integrate the module and guarantees the fastest route to prototype and then mass production.
