New Features and Performance Gains with the Lyra GA 3.0 & Lyra 24 GA 2.0 Releases

Always Improving: The Latest with our Lyra Modules

Our popular Lyra and Lyra 24 series of Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.4 LE modules, based on Silicon Labs’ popular EFR32BG22 and EFR32BG24 chipsets, allow us to bring our decades of wireless experience to field-proven chipset silicon. Our partnership with SiLabs allows us to layer on our value-added application software, services, certification capability, and support expertise. All of this adds  up to Bluetooth solutions that customers love, with multiple development pathways, a popular AT command set application, or even full C Code development via Simplicity Studio. 

Our ongoing firmware development continues to improve the Lyra Series modules by improving their performance and making them even more useful. The latest firmware releases are the Lyra GA 3.0 firmware and Lyra 24 GA 2.0 firmware, available on Github. Among various smaller changes and enhancements, there are some major improvements that our customers can leverage into their products to gain greater control of devices in the field and to get better performance out of their existing designs. 

Major Feature Updates

Some of the most noteworthy updates in the Lyra GA 3.0 and Lyra 24 GA 2.0 firmware are as follows: 

• New: Remote Command Mode. With Remote Command Mode, a central device can connect to a peripheral device and issues AT commands to be performed by the peripheral device. This allows central devices to reconfigure peripheral devices over a Bluetooth connection, giving OEMs a way to adjust device communications on the fly if necessary. 
• New: AT+SLEEP Command. This new AT Command gives you the ability to immediately put the device into low power sleep mode with the UART deactivated. This is only possible if low power UART operation is enabled in the device. This new scheme gives OEMs more ways to intelligently manage power on the fly, and in conjunction with Remote Command Mode, ways for groups of devices to do this in conjunction with each other. 
• New: Firmware Over-the-Air Disable. For OEMS who are particularly sensitive to locking down firmware and preventing devices from being updated over the air, our AT Command Set now allows you to disable the Firmware Update Over the Air service. 
• Improved: VSP Stability and Throughput. Our VSP service is now even better, with enhancements made to improve overall connection stability and get the most out of the available speed. VSP mode now reaches full speed with a baud rate of 115200.
