Industrial machinery is often very smart machinery, loaded with processors, sensors, and internal intelligence... but it doesn’t always have wireless connectivity. Via serial interfaces connected to those internal sensors, it’s possible to extract and aggregate critical status information, as well as to remotely configure these machines in what we’ll refer to as a smart factory.
